Masks-Correct sizing

The LifeVac® kits come with a selection of various sized masks to suit different face shapes and sizes.

To save time in an emergency situation, we recommend that you check the correct mask size for your loved ones when you first receive your LifeVac® kit.

How to select the correct size...

It is important that the mask is fitted to the face with the mouth in the open position when using the LifeVac®. To ensure proper sizing the mask should be test fitted to the patient prior to operation of the device.

Note: Although the illustrations show masks with coloured plastic rings, these are not present on all masks. Any coloured plastic rings on your masks should be removed prior to using the device.

1. Firstly, choose a mask that looks approximately the right size, then check it by performing steps 2 and 3 (below)

2. Slide the nose (narrow) section of the mask seal around the bridge of the nose (see below)

3. Place the mask against the face, ensuring that the lower seal sits between the chin and lower lip (see below) of the person (with their mouth open).

*** Important*** If the mask does not properly match these two landmarks (bridge of nose, and between lower lip and chin) an alternate mask should be selected, and then repeat Steps 2 and 3.

Once the correctly sized mask has been selected, attach it firmly to the LifeVac® device.

To use the LifeVac®, the mask should be held firmly to the person's face, using one hand - the index finger and thumb go around the centre port of the mask in a "C" shaped grip (see below)
